New Rule On Exempt Employee Status
By the stroke of a pen (and probably the use of a cell phone), the Executive Branch changed a rule that will affect hundreds of thousands of employer-employee relationships. Effective December 1, 2016, salary and compensation levels needed for Executive, Administrative and Professional workers to be classified as “exempt” goes up to $47,476 annually ($913/week). If you have not already done so, you should very soon consult your business attorney to determine how to update your employment contracts.
